Before heading off for night of drinking, me and a friend decided to get a food base and decided might as well make it a delcious and memorable food base and tick off another restauarnt from the list. This would be number 5 off the list, so we headed off to David's off chapel street in Prahran close to our later destination.
We decided given the Chinese and dim sum menu that shared food would be the way to go. We started with a shared entree of dumpling with a variety of each. Full of flavour with a soft dumpling casing these were an excellent choice and the best dumplings i have had in Melbourne.
We also shared a shanghai pork belly. Whilst the dumplings were great, the star of the entree had to be the shanghai pork belly. Delicately soft full of flavour and smothered with a generous serve of sweet soy sauce this was truly an amazing dish and fully recommended to anyone who heads to David's.
I decided on a main course of szechuan chilli beef. Well cooked steak with a great sauce, crunchy vegetables and kick of chilli, enough to feel it without overpowering the dish. Very good main course and complimented by the well cooked rice.
For desert, i could resist the steamed white chocoloat dumplings. Whilst the smooth white chocoloate, coconut and dumpling case offered a interesting combo of textures you couldn't disagreed with the flavour.
Great food and service that was diligent without being invasive helped for an excellent meal and a great way to start a night.
